Postcard depicting Dimetrodon and Edaphosaurus, from a painting by Charles R. Knight
Description
Verso: Dimetrodon and Ediphosaurus (from a painting by Charles R. Knight) . Ancient reptiles that lived in Texas during the Permian period, more than 200 million years ago. Dimetrodon (foreground), one of the largest reptiles of its time was 8 or 10 feet in length. It was an active hunter, equipped with large blade like teeth. Edaphosaurus (background) was a plant-eating reptile. The huge sails on the back of these reptiles supported by elongated spines of the vertebrae, may have served as radiators, to help control body temperatures. Giant Post Card.
