Title
A modern house with canoe prows holding up the shelter of the smoke hole
Description
From Anthropology Smith Scrapbook: Looking eastward at one of the modern houses at Kluckwan. Note the canoe prows holding up the shelter of the smoke hole as in No. 46162-3 The Chilkat blanket in process of weaving and the pattern board have been brought out of the house near the camera and held in the proper position. The girl refused to work on the blanket because she did not wish to be photographed. The reason she shows in the photograph is that she is holding the blanket up so that the blanket may be photographed and apparently forgot that she would show also. Note the bark on the roof and the stones holding the boards down. Such bark is also shown in No. 46163.
