Description
Herbert Lang collected several engraved gourds made by Zande artists during the colonial period. Scenes on the gourds portray the Azande, neighboring groups, and Europeans. A soldier taking prisoners appears on the side of this gourd cup. Collected from Akenge's village. Material: Gourd, pigment, plant fiber.
