Throwing knife, Azande.

The unusual shape of Zande throwing knives was quite effective in warfare. Lang wrote that "throwing knives are only used by the Azande. They set out with several throwing knives that are held fast or hung onto the leather strap in the back of the shield besides being held firmly with the thumb. During encounters they are said to throw these knives with great dexterity at great distances" (780).
