Description
Harp, Mangbetu. Hide, plant fiber, wood, brass. The art of northeastern Zaire intermingles styles and forms of the various peoples living in the region. Niangara, where this harp was collected, was a cosmopolitan center that attracted artists from several groups. The harp is carved in the classic Mangbetu style with sleek lines and an elongated head. Material: Cord, Stain, Hide, Plant Fiber, Wood, Metal.
