Title
Woman and child figure, wood, Azande (Zande), Congo
Description
In this rare Zande carving the forms of the mother and child seem to be fused. In fact, it illustrates the typical manner of carrying children throughout northeastern Zaire. A fiber band is wrapped around mother and child, and the child rests at the mother's side.
Materials: wood, coating.
