Exterior view of large Mangbetu building
Description
Schweinfurth's description of Mbunza's court included praise for the ruler's Great Hall. When Lang arrived at Okondo's court forty years later and could not find this courtly building, the chief immediately ordered the construction of such a hall. Lang photographed the completed building (9 m high, 55 m long, 27 m wide) when he returned to Okondo's village over a year later.
