Bench, Meje
Description
Benches (neckalackba) were used by Mbunza when Schweinfurth visited his court and continue to be used among Mangbetu men today. Schweinfurth described their production in Artes Africanae (1875). Lang later noted of them, "If the men go on visits or [to] social gatherings they are usually accompanied by several of their women. One is usually carrying the neckalackba" (398).
