Portrait of man seated
Description
In addition to mastering the technical knowledge required to find and trap an okapi, the hunter had to protect himself from the misfortune he courted if he killed this elusive animal. The braided creeper strands worn on the hunter's arm were medicine, called emupeti. They were carefully prepared in order to protect the hunter from illness or death.
